I bet you would expect me to blog about the budget deal. But I won't. I don't give two hoots about the government anymore. I just want them to leave me alone.
Now, on to business.
OK, OK, we haven't blogged in a really long time. Really long time. Really.
But there's a good reason for that. We both... got... jobs! It is a weird blessing-curse combination. The reasons it is a blessing are pretty obvious: we get paychecks now, we can stop looking for jobs, we have something to do every day, we really enjoy the work. It's also a curse, though, because we had all that free time (notice that we used to blog a lot and now we don't) that is just a happy memory now. Having these jobs is fun, but it does reaffirm for me that I ultimately don't want a job. I want to get up everyday, work on the farm, sell a few of the things I've grown or made myself, and not need any other income. Someday, I guess.
So about these jobs. We are both employed as Behavioral Health Professionals (snazzy title, right?) in a program for kids with behavior problems. Basically, it is a day-treatment intervention program, where students with serious potential for trouble are sent to try to help them and then eventually reintegrate them back into the public schools. It's great.
BUT when I say trouble, I do really mean trouble. Today, Luke's student threw a cardboard box at him, punched him, and gave another teacher a black eye. One of my students put a hole in the wall last week. It's hard work. But we both LOVE it.
Now that we have established a little bit more of a schedule for ourselves, we plan to blog more. I have a few ideas jotted down that I need to actually turn into blogs rather than just sticky notes.
